Karlan Grant scores first goal for West Brom to rescue vital point against Brighton before ‘six-pointer’ against Fulham
West Bromwich Albion claimed a vital point away to Brighton and Hove Albion thanks to a goal from summer signing Karlan Grant.
The Baggies punished the hosts at the Amex Stadium for their sloppiness with just seven minutes of normal time remaining to grab a vital 1-1 draw.
Brighton took the lead in the first half thanks to a calamitous own goal by Jake Livermore as Branislav Ivanovic attempted to clear a ricocheted cross, only to hit the England international in the chest and fall in.
The game itself was fascinating to watch, with the duel between Tariq Lamptey and Grady Diangana a particular highlight down the right hand side.
The Seagulls were fantastic in the first half, yet were fortunate to finish the game with a point as Slaven Bilic’s men finished strong.
Although the visitors were unlucky not to get all three points, it is an important point for the Baggies and they will take plenty of positives from their second half performance.
They face Fulham next, a game which they simply cannot afford to lose, while Graham Potter takes his side to Tottenham – making the draw tonight even more frustrating.
