Jeff Hardy has bravely opened up about his battle with addiction.
The WWE star has struggled with alcoholism throughout his life, something which was controversially used in a storyline on SmackDown earlier this year.
Hardy, who lost his Intercontinental Championship to Sami Zayn at Clash of Champions, insists he can afford no more slip-ups in his recovery.
He told Sports Illustrated: “This is my last chance to get it right.
“Since my early 20s, it’s been a rollercoaster ride with addiction and alcoholism. I’ve had sober runs, doing good for a while, but then I’d always go back.
“Now I hope I’m done with that. As long as I stay on the straight and narrow, the sky is the limit.”
Hardy’s feud with Sheamus culminated in the 43-year-old beating the latter in a Bar Fight.
The Charismatic Enigma was arrested for drink-driving last year, and that low moment in his life was reenacted in the storyline with Sheamus.
Despite heavy criticism from wrestling fans, including his brother Matt, Hardy was proud of the storyline.
He added: “For me, admitting on TV that I’m an alcoholic has been empowering.
“It helps me remind myself of how bad it can be if I go back to that way of life. I am blessed to do this, and I want to help people that have struggled like me.
“I hope I can be an example for people going through recovery.”
